Capidava Fortress

The beauty of the place given by its location on Danube's shore

The Roman fortress got up on a limestone spur, just across the round bay around which the present village settled. There are still present here the massive and monumental ruins of the citadelle from the fourth century AD. From the camp of the II th century were preserved only the foundation of one of the towers of the gate and the sill’s gate.
Capidava village rests on the Dobrogea high bank of Danube river, at midway between the national roads 2A (E 60) (Constanta-Harsova-Slobozia-FC-Bucharest) and 3A – A2 – 22C (Bucharest-Cernavoda highway, then continued by the road 22C to Constanta). Thus, the visitor can reach the city following the county road DJ 223, or by coming from Harsova (the intersection of Hanul Morarilor – Tichilesti – Topalu – Capidava) or from Cernavoda (through Seimeni – Danube – Capidava).
