The lake Techirghiol is located on the shore of Black Sea between the resorts Eforie Nord and Eforie Sud. It differs fundamentally from the other lake in the area, because of its physical and geographical aspects, although they have the same genesis.
The lake is a fluvial-marine bank with an area of 10.68 km², separated from the sea by a sand-belt with a maximum depth of 9 m. Through a low input of fresh water, the water of the lake has increased its salt concentration at about 95 g/l. This phenomenon allowed the formation of a mud layer with therapeutic qualities.
The mud from the lake is composed of organic elements of animal origin mixed with mineral substances which represent the main element in the treatment of various diseases. The therapeutic properties of the mud from lake Techirghiol are recognized worldwide.
