Constanta is located on the Black Sea, between the mouths of the Danube and Mangalia harbor, occupying a central position on the Romanian seacoast.
Constanta is an ancient city, founded 2,500 years ago (VI century BC) by Greek colonists from Miletus city.
More than 100 years of history
The ground floor of the museum hosts the Thesaurus room: painted vessels with black figures (VII-VI centuries BC), Tanagara burnt clay figurines, jewelery collections, marble statues and figurines, “the Glykon snake” statue (III century AD).
At the floor are exhibited copies of the famous statues “The thinker” and “The Sitting Woman” (Hamangia Culture- neolithic era), ceramic pottery of the Gumelnita and Boian culture. The Roman mosaic-floored edifice si located near the museum.
"Kral camisi" or "King’s Mosque"
Mahmud II Mosque, “Kral camisi” or “King’s Mosque” in Constanta, as it is called, is a unique architectural monument in Dobrogea and the main building of Muslim worship in the city.

The museum of the Romanian Navy was founded on the 25th of October 1965.
The building, which houses big part of the historical patrimony of the Navy, it is itself declared a historical monument.

Built in 1962, the museum houses a representative collection of paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages till now. Paintings of Theodor Aman, Nicolae Grigorescu, Stefan Luchian, Ion Andreescu, Octav Bancila, Nicolae Tonitza.

The expression of greatness of Tomis port (town)
The building, erected probably towards the end of II century AD, was enlarged and amplified in later centuries. The floor was done in the fourth century and the whole assembly, with subsequent repairs, worked until the early seventh century. A portion of 850 sqm from the pavement was kept.
